  • Osmington Bay Residential 2020

    Tue 19 May 2020

I hope you and your families are keeping well.

Further to our letter on 28th April, I am writing to you to confirm that the Year 6 Osmington Bay trip has unfortunately been cancelled. We understand how disappointing this must be to many of you and we truly empathise. This was, however, the decision PGL staff made based on the health and safety of pupils in their care and as I am sure you are aware, the safety of our pupils at Whitehall is our highest priority.

All monies paid up to this point will be refunded. PGL are keeping us informed of how and when this will happen so we will keep you updated as to when this will be.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

    Assistant Headteacher

  • Parent Gym Online Interactive Sessions

    Wed 13 May 2020

    Dear Parents

We know that parenting while juggling everything else is tough right now.  In normal times, Parent Gym’s school-based interactive sessions help build the skills and confidence of parents to create a calm home environment and raise happy children.

But with schools closed, Parent Gym are developing some short online eWorkouts, offering quick, practical techniques to help create a happier family during these tricky times.

The workouts are free and fun and each one only takes a few minutes to do on your phone, tablet or laptop – perfect for when you are making a cup of tea.

The first module - Keep Talking, looks at ways to get our families communicating.

The second – just released – gives tips for helping bring some Love and Harmony to family life in lockdown.

To download, click here, pop the Parent Gym Keep Talking and Love and Harmony modules in your shopping basket and ‘purchase’ (it won’t cost you a thing though…).

Why not also visit Parent Gym’s Facebook group, Parenting through uncertainty to share how parenting in lockdown is going for you and pick up some ideas from other parents for ways to keep family life calm?

    Best wishes

  • School Re-opening Information

    Tue 12 May 2020

We know you would have seen in the news that schools may reopen on 1st June to Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 pupils if the government thinks it is safe then.

We are waiting for further guidance and clarification from the government right now, which will hopefully help us create an action plan for our phased reopening. We will share this with you as soon as possible so you know what the school’s reopening will look like in practice.

It is a very unsettling time for us all, but rest assured that we are going to be doing everything we can to make sure we are ready to receive these year groups, if it is safe for our school to reopen, in the coming weeks. We will keep you updated with all our preparations for making sure the school is as safe as possible, so you can make informed decisions when the time comes.

We would like to thank you for your continuous support in helping your child learn from home. We will need to keep going with this for a while yet, so please do continue to do what you can and stay in touch with us about how your child is doing.

  • Waltham Forest CFC Service Facebook group

    Wed 06 May 2020

    Dear Parent/Carer,

Children and Family Centres across the borough are currently closed in-line with guidance from Public Health England, so unfortunately, we are unable to continue to offer our group or face to face support in the same way.

We know how important our services are to the many families who use them, and particularly during a time like this. So, we will continue to fund and deliver Children and Family Centre (CFC) services, directly and through our delivery partners but will be delivering them in a different way.

Waltham Forest Children and Family Centre service are launching their new Facebook group. This will be your new ‘one-stop shop’ for information about all Waltham Forest funded Children and Family Centre services for under 5’s, including children’s activities as well as information and support across all areas such as health, early learning & child development, childcare, family support, employment and training and lots more…

Don’t miss out, join now to ensure you receive the most up to date information about your local CfC services at:

    https://www.facebook.com/groups/lbwfcfc

Waltham Forest Early Years and Childcare Team have also developed the Learning Together Project. This project is for parents/carers and their young children and includes simple and fun activities they can do together at home which can help children with their learning and development. To get involved and start learning together, join the Chit Chat Pitter Pat Facebook group (and follow the Chit Chat Pitter Pat Instagram).

Our ambition is that everybody in Waltham Forest enjoys a quality life.
