  • Reintroduction of Music Tuition

    Wed 23 Sep 2020

After careful consultation with Waltham Forest and examination of the risk assessments for all parties, instrumental lessons on the keyboard and guitar are scheduled to resume next week on Wednesday 30th September.

Parents and carers of pupils who have previously had instrumental lessons will be contacted directly this week, followed by the parents and carers of pupils who were placed on the waiting list last year if places now become available.

In accordance with the advice from the Waltham Forest Music Service, the Governing body of Whitehall Primary have agreed that the cost of peripatetic music lessons will be £67.50 per term with immediate effect.

Parents and carers will see this increase reflected in the invoices for the Autumn term which will be raised imminently.  Please note that, despite this increase, parents and carers still do not bear the full cost of music lessons as the school continues to subsidise these from its delegated budget.

The peripatetic teachers are very excited to be able to return to school and resume instrumental lessons.  In the event that we are unable to allow visiting staff into school, contingency plans have been put in place to ensure that the pupils will have access to the lessons that have been paid for.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

  • Place2Be - Place2Talk Service

    Fri 18 Sep 2020

    Dear Parents/Carers,

I am writing to let you know about Whitehall Primary School’s work with Place2Be, a national charity supporting schools to improve the confidence and wellbeing of children and young people.

Place2Be provides emotional and therapeutic support to pupils, families and staff in more than 300 schools nationwide.

It gives pupils a space to express themselves through talking and creative work, and think about any worries they might have. Place2Be also provides support for parents and staff too.

    Place2Talk

One of the most popular aspects of this service is Place2Talk. It is open to all pupils, and they can make an appointment to spend 15 minutes with a trained counsellor, either by themselves or with a friend. On average, about a third of pupils in Place2Be’s schools take advantage of this service every year. Pupils often talk about friendships or any worries they may have.

    Parental consent

Unless we hear otherwise from you, the school and Place2Be will assume that all pupils have their parent/carers’ permission to come to Place2Talk. We also assume you are happy for the school to tell Place2Be your child’s name, date of birth, year group, gender and ethnicity. This information is stored securely and used solely to evaluate Place2Be’s service.

If would like to find out more, or would prefer that your child does not use this service please email Francesca Johnson (Place2Be School Project Manager) francesca.johnson@place2be.org.uk  or ring 028 529 3813. She is also very happy to answer any further questions you might have.
